635 - Our Adventure through Cancer

Special Collection

Spring 2018, Vida was diagnosed with breast cancer. After moments of shock and sadness, we decided to attack the situation with dignity, grace, and hiking. Through the surgeries and chemotherapy, we traveled through the backcountry of Montana and Idaho, and logged 635 miles by the end of hiking season and Vida’s treatments.

Hiking was essential to her ability to recover and sustain her mental and physical health. While many think of cancer as a regression and a time to slow down, we put the pedal to the metal or, more accurately, the foot to the trail.

Throughout the journey, I photographed each hike to document this incredible healing adventure, and the best images are a part of this project.

Prints

The beauty of these landscape images comes to life on the exquisiteness of Hahnemühle Pearl paper, showcasing the seamless marriage of artistry and precision through the Giclée printing process. Hahnemühle Pearl is renowned for its luxurious quality, characterized by a subtle surface texture that adds depth and dimension to the photographs.

Crafted using the Giclée printing technique, these landscape images undergo a meticulous and high-resolution printing process. Giclée, derived from the French word “spray,” involves the application of fine droplets of archival pigment inks onto the Hahnemühle Pearl paper. This process ensures the faithful reproduction of colors and details, capturing the essence of the original artwork with unparalleled accuracy.

The Hahnemühle Pearl paper itself is a heavyweight, acid-free, and archival quality substrate. The subtle surface texture of the paper adds a tactile quality, enhancing the viewing experience and inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the intricacies of the landscapes.

These prints exude a timeless quality, with colors that remain vibrant and true over the years. Whether displayed in a gallery, home, or office, these photographs are a harmonious blend of art and craftsmanship.
